Sorbetto (the Italian name) or sorbet (the French name) is a delightful after dinner frozen sweet dish. According to Wikipedia on Sorbet, ‘It is believed that sorbets originated in ancient Persia…In the 17th-century, England began importing “sherbet powders” from the Ottoman Empire made from dried fruit and flowers mixed with sugar. By 1662, a coffeehouse in London advertised the availability of “sherbets made in Turkie of Lemons, Roses and Violets perfumed.”’

Although typically made from dried fruit and flowers mixes with sugar, today I will show you how to make a delicious sugar free variety in your own home. Here is the recipe:

Homemade Sugar Free Sorbetto

  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1/4 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 small, ripe banana
  • 1-2 teaspoons coconut cream
  • 1/6 teaspoon stevia powder

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly in a blender or food processor. Serve immediately. This recipe makes one larger or two smaller servings.

Bon appetit!
